First of all, apologies to [livejournal.com profile] that_oneill_guy if I gave you the impression in my comment about "Forcis(Forsyth?)/Chris subtext" that it was "stupid" to make the Bylaha/Weihrauch switch and leave Forcis as it was - katakana is frequently inadequate for exact phonetic translation, and I would never have guessed it was spelled any other way if I hadn't come across the alternative spelling.

How I discovered Scrapped Princess and this community: Local video store was having a sale, the title and premise sounded intriguing, art looked fantastic. Pretty much hooked after 4 episodes, but the dub on my version (VCD released by a local company) was less than satisfactory, especially for my limited Japanese. So I searched the Net, found [livejournal.com profile] that_oneill_guy's LJ (and his translations and scans), and here I am.

The character(s) I will defend with bike chains and broken beer bottles if I see anyone bashing him/her/them: Pacifica and Forsyth appear to be the most misunderstood.

How I plan to contribute: I'm not much of a writer, and even less of an artist, but might be inspired.

Level of exposure: Currently re-watching on local TV (subtitles are better than the VCD).

How SutePri broke my brain: the sudden, almost casual mention of DNA, the images of ruined apartment blocks/carparks, the mecha in a mediaeval world - it's almost like the last scene in the original "Planet of the Apes", except you could see the plot twist coming half a mile away in that movie, whereas in Sutepri it meshes in layers of a complicated Matrix.

How it broke my heart: The animation, the acting, episode 23 and 24...need I say more?

What I still don't understand: Think I'll defer this until I finish re-watching it.

I'm not sure if this really happened or not: See above.

No, hey, no need to apologize. It'd be one thing if I never made the Forsyth/firearms connection--the fact that I knew and continued using the old spelling JUST BECAUSE is what makes it stupid, and nothing you said implied stupidity on my part anyway.

And I loved the ruined apartment blocks/carparks. Hell, I loved all the little visual clues they threw in, like the way the shooting stars fall along preset paths.

. . . and now I need to watch the anime for a third time. GAH.

Ah, it took me a while to really notice and grasp everything that they threw in there, even now sometimes I notice more that I hadn't before XD It is really awesome though.

And, well, nice to meet you :)

On a side note, what or why was Winia knitting when she was sitting next to Chris in the carriage (last episode, on way to Forsyth's coronation)?

[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow and I discussed that at some length without quite coming to a definite conclusion. However, I'm leaning toward the explanation that, during medieval times, even the highest born ladies spent an awful lot of time knitting, sewing, spinning, embroidering, etc., so it's not at all strange that Winia should do the same.

Especially if she finds herself completely unoccupied otherwise and as such needs some way of filling the time. *cough*
