Heh, well, it's not so much that the het was better than the slash, per se. More that there were approximately FIVE fics, all of which were stored in the Pit of Voles and the majority of which lacked any semblance of proper grammar, spelling, plot, characters, etc. The remaining two happened to be written by the same Chris/Winia fan. And there was no slash.

Can't really comment on the HP fandom since the only HP fanfic I've ever read was, uh, Canis M's. :D;
