I forget, do you have a PS2? If so, you should definitely check out Phantom Brave. It's a strategy RPG like FFT, only MUCH BETTER. Though on second thought, you might want to start on Makai Kingdom or one of the older games first since, apparently, PB's limited turn system drives people batshit aha.

Speaking of Makai Kingdom, check out the promotional videos, the designs for the main characters and jobs, and the freakin' sweet illustration gallery. :D~ And, uh, no, I don't know why "Phantom Kingdom" became "Makai Kingdom," but it kicks ass either way.
